Natural Cures and Remedies

Alternative medicine can be researched and studied

By 1a2b | January 28, 2012

Don’t call it pseudo-scientific and quackery if you don’t give it the same research opportunities. Why don’t we compare apples and apples. Lets face it the same funds are not available for medicines that are not patented. Don’t also dismiss it because someone made a bad choice. Nobody has a very good track record for the treatment of cancer of the pancreas but Steve Jobs was just given bad information to believe that diet and herbs could inprove his cancer. Those things may have prevented it from happening but its no cure.

RMIT University’s School of Health Sciences has rejected the suggestion that it peddles pseudo-scientific quackery via its courses in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Acting head of the school Dr Ray Myers has defended RMIT’s health

Alternative Medicine may be lacking in research for disease treatment, but if you are looking to stop an ilness before it starts then Alternative medicine is a top choice. Even if it is just tradition, there is much to read. do your homework before buying into anything.

Dr. Jonathan Miller on ‘Alternative Medicine’

By 1a2b | January 27, 2012

Jonathan Miller offers a fact-rich fascinating insight into the nature of health care and the world of alternative medicine and its relationship with the man who is trying to stay healthy. In a short span of time, he talks summarizes about the limitations and usefulness of modern medicine and emphasizes the need for bringing the patient into confidence by being honest. Keep in mind that he is talking in 1981, yet he is remarkably up to date. His personal take on it is also interesting. I would highly recommend his documentary ‘The Body in Question’. www.youtube.com

Does anyone have any scientific evidence supporting alternative medicine?

By 1a2b | January 27, 2012

Please, do no tell me anecdotes, personal stories, or anything like that. The last thing I want to hear is about how alternative medicine worked for you. I think that is wonderful but it hardly serves as proof. I want to see some sort of hard evidence. The ideal would be a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial. Any trial or study would suffice. I am looking for some websites or something to read to supply me with evidence. Thanks for your help!

What religions and cultures have health care limits and restrictions or use alternative medicine?

By 1a2b | January 26, 2012

I am writing a paper for my Sociology class and it got me thinking. I know that there are religions and cultures that chose not to participate in modern medicine or practice alternative medicine. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which religions and/or cultures have limits and restrictions and what they are. Please and thank you for helping feed my curiosity.
