Arthritis Relief with Tea Tree Oil
By 1a2b | July 27, 2010
The term “arthritis” is used to refer to one or more of a group of
over 100 rheumatic diseases. Quite often, arthritis is caused by the
deterioration of cartilage in the joints. Symptoms of all of these
diseases include pain, stiffness and swelling of the joints, and can
affect other parts of the body such as other bones, muscles, tendons
and ligaments.
Tea tree oil is very good for arthritis as it is able to penetrate and
desensitize irritated nerve endings. For relief from pain caused by
the various arthritic afflictions (rheumatoid arthritis ,
osteoarthritis, etc.), combine 18 drops of tea tree oil with 1/8 cup
of almond oil. Put in a dark bottle and shake before applying it
topically two to four times a day as a massage oil.
Putting 2-3 drops of tea tree oil into a warm bath is also a great way
to alleviate the joint pain associated with arthritis.
In order to go beyond merely relieving arthritis symptoms, it is
important to make dietary changes. Changing the type of oil in the
diet to one rich in omega-3 fatty acids suppresses the inflammatory
that the body makes. Omega-3 fatty acids switch off the enzymes that
break down joint cartilage, and are found mainly in oily fish such as
sardines, salmon and cod liver oil. Omega-6 fatty acids are found
mostly in plant seed oils such as evening primrose and sunflower oil,
and can also have a positive effect in relieving arthritis symptoms.
Foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids are:
* canola oil (the oil and margarine)
* salmon oil
* cod liver oil (mmm yum :)
* soybean oil
* soybeans
* walnut oil
* walnuts
* avocado oil
* fresh avocado.
Foods to avoid:
Try replacing much of the red meat you consume with oily fish. Red
meat is also a good source of iron, so be sure to eat lots of dark
green leafy vegetables and other foods rich in iron so as not to be
deficient.
* alcohol
* tea
* coffee
* saturated fats
* processed foods
* fried and grilled foods
You cannot expect to cure arthritis through dietary changes but, in
conjunction with using tea tree oil, the right foods can alleviate
many of the painful flareups.
To your health!

Asthma Treatments
By 1a2b | July 24, 2010
Asthma can be treated in many ways
1. Using conventional medicines and therapies
2. Using alternative medicines such as herbs or other traditional medicines
3. By using alternative therapies such as Yoga, Acupuncture, etc…
Every type of therapy has its own scope and time span. The first and the most widely accepted therapy is the conventional medicines and procedures. In this procedure of asthma treatment, the patient is treated in two ways
1. Short term treatment
2. Long term treatment
Short term asthma treatment involves the instant relief of the patient from asthma attacks. Short term treatment involves the administration of inhalers and orally administered drugs. Asthma cannot be cured, but the scope of asthma can be controlled with the help of a proper asthma management program.
Short term treatment is done mainly by using Metered Dose Inhalers or MDIs. Dry powder inhalers are also gaining favor in the treatment of asthma.
For those patients who cannot use the MDI’s, nebulizer therapy is used.
Long term asthma treatment involves more of Parallel treatment and lesser use of drugs.
In parallel asthma treatment, environmental components and surrounding analysis is done to minimize the factors that lead to Asthma attacks. In this type of treatment environment components such as pollen grains, allergens etc are minimized from the patient’s surroundings to minimize the chances of an asthma attack.
For this it is necessary that the patient’s place of residence be cleaned every week, the patient must be kept away from pets with fur or feather, weekly washing of the bedding of the patient in hot water.
Avoid using synthetic material in the patient’s bedding, replace upholstery based furniture to vinyl or leather ones.
Remove carpeted floors. They may contain dust particles that could cause problems to the asthma patient.
Use the Air conditioner to protect the patient from subtle temperature changes.
Keep the house dry. Humidity effects the asthma patient.
After the parallel asthma treatment is completed, lung functioning is monitored to look for effective changes. After this, medicines like corticosteroids and bronchodilators are administered. Periodic check up is necessary to know about any changes in the condition of the patient.
For patients have persistent asthma attacks, an annual dose of influenza vaccine is necessary.

Benefit of Green Tea
By 1a2b | July 21, 2010
Benefit of Green Tea Introduction
There has been an influx of media coverage about the health benefits
of green tea. Most green tea enthusiasts may base their opinions on
green tea around their own experiences of the beverage. The Chinese
have been drinking green tea for thousands of years due to its miracle
working abilities. Green tea has been used by the Chinese for treating
minor headaches to much larger matters such as preventing cancer. Many
health studies are beginning to shine some light on the facets and
benefits of green tea. What are the benefits from green tea that can
affect your life? The following are five major benefits of green tea
that may substantially change your life.
First Health of Green Tea - Weight Loss
The high concentration of polyphenols in green tea helps to oxidize
fat and encourage thermogenesis. Thermogenesis in the body is the rate
which the body burns calories. Green tea results in an increase of
energy which raises the metabolism, therefore, more weight is lost
than normal. As a morning beverage, green tea has a small amount of
calories compared to most other beverages that Americans drink in the
morning. The constant barrage of coffee as most peoples’ morning
beverage results in a higher amount of daily calories compared to
green tea as a beverage in the morning. A substitution of green tea
instead of reaching for a cup of joe will make a big difference in the
size of your waistline.
Second Benefit of Green Tea - Prevention of Cancer
The antioxidants in green tea eliminate free radicals that plague the
body. These free radicals cause aging and cancer. The polyphenols of
green tea constantly search for free radicals and they prevent the
formation of unstable oxygen molecules in a process known as
oxidation. This oxidation damages healthy cells of the body and have
been linked to illnesses like cancer, heart disease, and even strokes.
The polyphenols in green tea prevent the birth of abnormal cells,
inflammation, and destroy most cancer causing agents.
Third Benefit of Green Tea - Healthy Teeth
Green tea is well known for keeping teeth clean because of one of its
ingredients, fluoride. The fluoride kills the bacteria in the mouth
that causes plaque. Also, fluoride helps to maintain healthy, cavity-
free teeth. This helps to prevent general tooth decay inside of the
mouth. This cannot be about coffee which stains the teeth with an ugly
yellow tinge. The oral health of teeth can be vastly improved with the
consumption of green tea.
Fourth Benefit of Green Tea - Lowers Cholesterol
Green tea may be a possible solution for all those suffering from
conditions of high cholesterol. Heart attacks are one of the most
common problems associated with bad cholesterol. Drinking green tea
could possibly lower this stunning high risk. Green tea lowers the bad
cholesterol’s levels, LDL cholesterol and prevents the occurrence of
blood clots in the body. The LDL cholesterol flows through the liver
and cells forming heavy deposits on artery walls. The catechins in
green tea help to decrease the amount of bad cholesterol. Also, the
catechins help to maintain a healthy good cholesterol to bad
cholesterol ratio improving the overall health of the body.
Benefit of Green Tea Conclusion
If weight loss, the prevention of cancer, healthy teeth, and the idea
of low cholesterol does not give you an idea that green tea is a
miracle worker, you must be working with some pretty powerful magic. A
couple of cups of tea in addition to your normal daily beverage will
greatly decrease the risk of any bad conditions. The only side effect
that has been clearly recognized is the daily overdose of caffeine.
This problem has been addressed through the usage of green tea extract. Green tea can be taken in a pill form with all the benefits of normal green tea. So, we hope that you begin a daily green tea regimen tomorrow!

Before Taking Viagra
By 1a2b | July 18, 2010
A famous pill used in impotence treatment. The name of the medicine
comes from the unification of vitalis and Niagara words. It’s a
revolutionary innovation because before Viagra the lack of sexual
reaction could be treated only with long lasting psychotherapy,
injections or with artificial penis implants.
What can we call Impotence?
Not only the complete lack of sexual reactions but also the
difficulties on achieving and maintaining erection.
What should we know about Viagra?
Viagra is a medicine, so it can be used only with caution. There’s a
long list of medications that are dangerous to be taken with Viagra,
because of this if you’re on Viagra and you need to take any other
drugs, doctor must be consulted first.
How is acting?
The Viagra increases the efficiency of hormones produced by sexual
desire, which will cause better blood supply in penis, relaxing smooth
muscle.
So if there’s no desire, Viagra is useless.
It is true that 16 people died because of Viagra?
According to rumors, yes, but they probably didn’t pay attention to
the contra-indications (interaction with nitrate medications) or they
overdosed viagra. Any medication can cause death if overdosed. It
cannot be taken more than one viagra pill daily.
If I have normal erection but I want it to be better and more
frequently can I take Viagra?
No. In this case viagra is strictly prohibited. It can overload your
organism. If something works well why the risk to ruin it?
Is it true that Bob Dale, USA senator, took part in Viagra
experiments?
Yes. Bob Dale has prostate-cancer and to cure it, he had to take
female hormones, which caused him erection problems. He was helped by
viagra. Of course he respected the dosage.
Are men affected psychically if they can make love only with a pill
trough a lifetime?
The answer is in the question! Most of therapists say that Viagra can
be useful temporarily but the long-term usage isn’t indicated. It
damages the self-confidence if somebody can make love only with a
medication, the person can feel that he is less valuable as a man than
others.
But it’s better to have a pill than nothing. The self-confidence is
even more damaged if somebody can’t make love at all, so it happens
often that this blue pill has positive effects on men’s morale too.
Have the Viagra side effects?
Yes. Sometimes it can cause headache, low blood pressure, nausea and
even color diffusion. There were cases when the patient’s perception
of blue and green colors was switched by the viagra.
So Viagra can be used as a narcotic too?
Only sometimes because regularly Viagra doesn’t acts in this way.
Viagra is a medication not a dope and it’s over dosage is very
dangerous. Anyway it’s better to avoid any kind of narcotics.
How many men are struggling with this problem?
According to estimation numbers in USA, Europe and Japan are 50
million men suffering in impotence.
Apparently this is another modern-age disease. Sexual-therapists are
saying that the “spread” of impotence is caused by the subsistence,
stress, sex without emotion and alcoholism.
There is a sexual stimulant for women?
The Pfizer Company is already working on such a medicine as the
Viagra, but for women. Until then women can use herbal libido enhancers, which are probably less effective, but certainly healthier.

Medicine Preventive and Curative
By 1a2b | July 15, 2010
Have you heard the term “wellness?” It has two contexts, one
in alternative medicine and one in Western medicine.
In the alternative medicine world, wellness means taking care
of yourself so you don’t get sick. Let’s find ways to avoid cancer,
heart disease, mental illness. We can do this through changing our
diet, exercising more, and changing our energy fields.
In Western medicine, we wait until we get one of these diseases, then
we rush heroically to “beat the disease.” In Western medicine, the
term wellness means “early detection” of disease. If you walk
into a “Wellness Center” in a hospital, you’ll see mammogram screening
rooms, MRI machines and other tools to scan for the existence of
disease.
Is that wellness? To me, it’s not. Wellness is about staying well, it
is about avoiding disease in the first place. When a person is told
“You have cancer,” it is a major blow to their psyches, and their
lives. Why go through that if you don’t have to? Why not do whatever
you can to avoid that terrible day?
Western medicine treats the “pre-detection” part of life as a kind of
random soup of nothingness. You can’t really do anything about any of
these diseases, you just get them or you don’t. No rhyme or reason to
it, it just hits you, and then you deal with it.
Genetics is a big factor in the Western medical model. If you get
cancer, ah, well, it was in your genes that you’d get it. You see,
your great grandfather had cancer, so it was inevitable that you’d get
it too.
Huh? Unfortunately, Western medicine can’t explain why siblings get
or don’t get diseases supposedly passed on from their parents. One
sister dies of cancer at a young age (because of genetics) and the
other sister lives to be 100 (genetics).
For my part, I’m going to take the best care of myself possible, and
not play a silly waiting game for disease.

Naturally Lower Your Blood Pressure
By 1a2b | July 12, 2010
Home remedies and homeopathic medicine have begun popular over the
years as an alternative to prescription drugs. Many people are not
aware that there are also home remedies available to lower your blood
pressure. What is nice about a home remedy is the lower cost and
eliminating the unfavorable side effects of prescribed medicines.
Another advantage of home remedies is that while it may be used to
alleviate one symptom, it often has other health benefits. Many home
remedies can be found in your local supermarket and health food store.
If you suffer from high blood pressure, here are a few home remedies.
These remedies will not only lower your blood pressure but are good
for your general health too.
Below are a few home remedies to help lower your blood pressure
· Potassium and Magnesium. Foods high in these minerals are bananas,
molasses, soy and bananas. Some fruits such as watermelon and grapes
are also a good source. Not only will these foods lower your blood
pressure but are beneficial to your overall health too.
· Garlic has many beneficial properties that improve overall health,
including lowering your blood pressure. Consumption of garlic will
also reduce blot clot occurrences in individuals. It is believed by
some researches that garlic will also lower the triglyceride levels.
Therefore, you are probably wondering what a triglyceride is. A
triglyceride is a glyceride that occurs naturally in tissues and
consists of three fatty acids that are bound together in a single
molecule. They are an important energy source forming much of the fat
stored in the body.
You can research on how to lower your blood pressure using home
remedies in many ways. The internet has a wealth of information
dedicated to home remedies and homeopathic medicine to lower your
blood pressure. Bookstores and libraries also offer an abundance of
information. With a little research, you can find alternatives to
prescription drugs for lowering your blood pressure.
As with any alternative health remedies, consult with your physician
before discontinuing any prescribed medicines. Abruptly taking your
prescription medicine could have serious and long-term effects on your
health.

Holistic, and Reductionist Medicine
By 1a2b | July 9, 2010
The major difference between alternative medicine, or what I’ll call holistic health, and Western medicine, is in approach.
A Western doctor, or MD, sees his duty as searching out disease,
diagnosing it, and treating it. If he does that correctly and
effectively, he’s done his job. Most often, this means the doctor
prescribing a pharmaceutical drug or a surgical procedure to remedy
the situation. The patients is passive in all of this.
A holistic health practitioner sees her duty as an educator and a
facilitator. She feels that the body can heal itself, and it doesn’t
necessarily need outside influences (drugs, surgery) to heal from an
illness or to prevent an illness. In holistic health, the patient is
an active participant.
This is the best and the worst thing about holistic health! The
patient is actively involved in the healing process. Everything you
know about your body says that this is the right approach. It makes so
much sense. That’s the good part. The bad thing about this is that
it is HARD WORK for the patient. In most cases, the patient must make
changes to their lifestyle. Change your diet, do more exercise, stop
using sugar, do these stretches, stop negative thoughts, meditate
twice a day, etc.
Making lifestyle changes is immensely difficult. The only time it’s
easy is when you are faced with a life-threatening disease. When you
find out you have lung cancer, it’s pretty easy to quit smoking.
However, it’s far too late by that time. Lifestyle changes need to
come before the illness becomes manifest.
Let’s examine one of the big differences between holistic health and
Western medicine: holism versus reductionism.
Holistic versus Reductionist
This is a major shift in perspective. Taking a holistic perspective
means that you cannot understand a single problem with a single part
of the human body without looking at the whole person. We use the
short-hand “mind, body, spirit” to refer to the whole
person.
This is not how a Western doctor is taught to see a patient. He sees
the patient as the disease. “This is an epileptic,” it is not
a whole person who has epilepsy. He feels that he can administer a
drug or perform a surgery that will cure a person’s liver without
making any difference to the rest of the person. Of course, this is
never possible, so when the inevitable “complications” arise, the
Western doctor deals with those one at a time, often causing
additional problems for the person, whether in body, mind or spirit.
Even those three parts of the person are treated by separate people in
Western society. The body is the domain of the medical doctor. The
mind is the domain of the psychiatrist. Spirit is left to the priest,
rabbi or pastor. There is no overlap in roles, except for referrals
from one to the other. In our bodies, of course, there is tremendous
overlap. A loss of connection to God or the universe will cause no
end of mental and physical problems. Mental stress causes many
physical diseases, as we well know. Who can coordinate between these
in the Western system? No one. Problems falling “through the cracks”
between mind, body and spirit is a common failure of Western medicine.
A holistic practitioner understands the interconnections between mind,
body and spirit. They work on the connections, and, although the
practitioner may not be an expert in all three, they focus on the
overlaps rather than ignoring them.
In my opinion, a holistic approach is better in almost every case for
almost every person. Understanding the linkages between mind, body and
spirit is essential to understanding how to stay well and how to heal.
Western medicine can play a part within the scope of holistic health
by offering emergency solutions to problems that arise quickly and
need to be fixed immediately.

Avoiding Colds and Flu
By 1a2b | July 5, 2010
This year it is of utmost importance that we pay attention to
strengthening our immune systems naturally. Using certain herbs,
foods, supplements and homeopathic remedies can help you avoid
catching a cold or flu and build your immune system. If you do catch
a virus, they can help
relieve the symptoms and shorten the duration and severity of the
illness.
What most people don’t realize is how much your daily diet has an
impact on the strength of your immune system. If you or your child
are eating sweets daily, processed foods, junk food, drinking soda or
other sweetened beverages regularly, you are weakening your immunity
and will be more likely to catch virus’s. One teaspoon of sugar (soda
has about 9-
11 tbsp.) can weaken your immune system for 4 hours. I believe that
this is why so many people are now having an extreme difficulty
fighting illnesses. (Besides repeated antibiotic use)
Try eating more vegetables, at least 4-5 servings a day! Along with
eggs for breakfast, how about a few pieces of steamed asparagus, some
spinach, squash or a few tomato slices. Have a salad with lunch, and
at least two vegetables with dinner. Fresh fruit can also bolster
vitamin C and help build resistance.
Eat berries daily! Especially frozen - freezing berries breaks the
cell wall and releases more color pigments containing the beneficial
bioflavanoids. Avoid all white flour (eat only WHOLE grains), baked
goods, sugary cereals, cookies, cakes, candy, and sweets. You’ll feel
so much stronger than you realize!
Good Natural Vitamins a MUST!
It is very important to take a good quality, plant-based not
synthetic, multi-vitamin/ mineral supplement daily which supplies you
with vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, amino acids, essential fatty
acids, proanthocyanadines, bioflavanoids, green foods, enzymes and
more.
Taking 2000-4000 mg. of Vitamin C every day will help you fight
infections. Eating garlic regularly or taking odorless garlic
capsules helps fight viral, bacterial, and yeast infections. Bee
propolis is known as Russian penicillin and is often found in natural
vitamin
supplements. It is collected by bees to protect the hives from
infection.
Super Antioxidants
I HIGHLY recommend using Super Antioxidants daily! Not only because
they help reduce the signs of aging, along with aches and pains, but
they can greatly increase your immune system, being 20 - 50 times more
potent than Vitamin C and E!
Using Echinacea (purple coneflower) herbal extract regularly can help
you avoid or reduce the severity and duration of viral illnesses. 40
drops for an adult taken 4-6 times a day at the first sign of a cold
can help you avoid it completely. Olive Leaf extract is proven more
powerful than penicillin in fighting upper respiratory infections,
sinus, strep and throat infections! Those with autoimmune diseases
should consider using Astragalus instead of Echinacea to strengthen
the spleen and immune system. It is a safe, long term immune system
tonic.
Oil of Oregano
My favorite is a high-quality, full-strength Oil of Oregano. It is a
very powerful agent against bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal
infections. I recommend keeping some on hand! It’s an excellent
general tonic and immune stimulant. You can take one or two capsules
a day, or
place one or two drops of the oil under the tongue to go immediately
into the blood and lymph system. 4-5 drops can also be placed in
juice and taken several times a day. This can be your best defense
against the flu!
Therapeutic value of Colloidal Silver
Also consider using Colloidal Silver for excellent anti-viral
protection! It works great to help avoid or reduce symptoms of colds
and flu. The body has an innate ability to rejuvenate and restore
itself to optimum health. When taken daily, Colloidal Silver acts as
an optimal immune system supporter by helping the body fight invaders.
Medical tests indicate no known adverse effects from the use of
properly prepared Colloidal Silver, and there has
never been a recorded case of drug interaction with any other
medication.
The body does not develop a tolerance to Colloidal Silver and no
allergic reaction has ever been recorded.
How Colloidal Silver Works
The presence of Colloidal Silver near an invader disables its oxygen-
metabolism enzyme, its chemical lung, so to say. Within a few minutes,
the invader suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of our bodies by
the immune, lymphatic and elimination systems. Unlike pharmaceutical
antibiotics, which destroy beneficial enzymes, Colloidal Silver leaves
these tissue-cell enzymes intact, as they are radically different than
those enzymes of primitive
single-celled life. Thus, Colloidal Silver is absolutely safe for
humans, reptiles, plants and all multi-celled living matter.
Not to be underestimated is the value of maintaining good colon
health. The Chinese have long equated respiratory problems with poor
bowel function. If waste product is not being removed in a timely
fashion then toxins build up in the body, and particularly the
respiratory system. Be sure to take herbs which perform a good bowel
detox, as well as keep the intestines in fighting shape with friendly
bacteria, such as acidophilus or bifidophilus. Enzymes are a must.
Take a broad spectrum enzyme combination, both with meals and
between meals.
Regular daily exercise and fresh air will also keep your lymph moving
and your immune system strong. Try rebounding (jumping on a mini-
trampoline) everyday, even if it’s just 2-5 minutes, several times a
day.
Be sure to wear a hat when out in the cold. Getting plenty of sleep
and daily relaxation to reduce stress will also help. Keeping your
self strong and healthy not only protects you from the flu, but many
other ills as well.

A History of Natural Alternative Medicine Part 3
By 1a2b | July 3, 2010
Over 50 years ago, Kaufman showed remarkable foresight half a
century into the future of ortho molecular medicine, describing
how the lack of a just a single nutrient can cause diverse
diseases, including what is now known as attention-deficit hyper
activity disorder.
Emanuel Cheraskin, MD, DMD. Dr. Cheraskin was among the very
first to recognize and demonstrate that oral health indicates
total body health. “Health is the fastest growing failing
business in western civilization,” he said. “Why is it so many of
us are 40 going on 70, and so few 70 going on 40?” The answer, he
said, was our neglect of the paramount value of nutrition, an
educational deficiency that Dr. Cheraskin devoted a lifetime to
eradicating.
Hugh Desaix Riordan, M.D. Hugh Riordan was one of the most
knowledgeable, both as a maverick par excellence and as an
historian of mavericks. Hugh was an ortho molecular fighter, who
fought hard and consistently on behalf of ortho molecular
concepts. He was challenged legally when he wanted to treat his
patients with high dose vitamins in the hospital. He won. He was
the first to demonstrate how large doses of vitamin C are
chemotherapeutic for cancer patients. His main work had to do
with the schizophrenic syndrome and with the treatment of cancer
using nontoxic vitamin C chemotherapy. Hugh was the leader in
making available to cancer patients a treatment that is effective,
safe, economical and very tolerable.
Abram Hoffer, M.D., PhD Dr. Abram Hoffer has spent the past five
decades conducting research related to the practice of ortho
molecular medicine, which emphasizes the use of nutrients in
optimum doses for the treatment of a wide range of diseases.
In 1952, Dr. Hoffer and his colleagues began developing a more
effective treatment for schizophrenia that involved a biochemical
hypothesis. They tried two nutrients: vitamin C and vitamin B3.
He found that we could halve the two-year recovery rate of
patients just by adding these vitamins to the program. This was
the first major systematic attempt to use large dosages of
vitamins therapeutically. In 1955 he also discovered that niacin
lowered cholesterol levels.
These pioneers and others were first ridiculed, and were ignored
by the medical establishment, but were eventually proven to be
right.

A History of Natural Alternative Medicine Part 2
By 1a2b | July 2, 2010
Over twenty years before Pauling, McCormick had already reviewed
the nutritional causes of heart disease and noted that four out
of five coronary cases in hospital show vitamin C deficiency.
McCormick also early proposed vitamin C deficiency as the
essential cause of, and effective cure for, numerous communicable
illnesses, becoming an early advocate of using vitamin C as an
antiviral and an antibiotic. Modern writers often pass by the
fact that McCormick actually advocated vitamin C to prevent and
cure the formation of some kidney stones as far back as 1946.
Linus Pauling, PhD It was two-time Nobel Prize winner Linus
Pauling who coined the term “ortho molecular.” Ortho molecular
medicine describes the practice of preventing and treating
disease by providing the body with optimal amounts of substances
which are natural to the body. Pauling identified sickle-cell
anemia as the first molecular disease and subsequently laid the
foundation for molecular biology, and then developed a theory
that explained the molecular basis of vitamin therapy. Irwin
Stone first introduced Pauling to Vitamin C, recommending
3,000mg a day, which was 50 times the RDA. Pauling and his wife
began taking this amount, the severe colds that he had suffered
from several times a year all his life no longer occurred. After
a few years he increased his intake of vitamin C to 100 times,
then 200 times, and then 300 times the RDA (now 18,000 mg per
day). Pauling lived to be 93.
“Professor Pauling, as always, is ahead of his time. The latest
research on vitamin C substantiates his twenty-five years of
advocacy and investigation on the benefits of vitamin C.”, said
J. Daniel Kanofsky, MD, MPH, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Josef Issels. Because of his well-known professional skills,
his kindness, and relatively high rate of survivors, many cancer
patients in the terminal stage came to consult German Dr. Josef
Issels. In 1951, one wealthy and grateful patient funded his
private clinic, where he continued his successful work until
1960, when he was arrested by the German ‘Kriminalpolizei’ on the
instigation of his medical opponents. He had to close down his
clinic for years, in spite of a report from an independent
scientist who had concluded that, of 252 terminal cancer patients
with histologically proved metastases, 42 had survived for at
least five years (17%) with the Issels therapy. For terminal
patients, such a score is disproportionately high.
Issels believed that cancer was the end stage, the ultimate
symptom, of a lifetime of immune system damage which had created
an environment for the tumor to grow. He argued that conventional
therapy just looked at the tumor without recognizing this
longtime pre conditioning period. Dr. Issels saw the body as
having great potential to heal itself. Good nutrition and a clean
environment were central to his therapy.
In the end, Issels was proven to be right. From 1967 to 1970,
Professor J. Anderson of King’s College Hospital and member of
the World Health Organization inspected Issels’ reopened clinic.
He confirmed the highly significant survival rate of Issels’
terminal cancer patients. His legacy is continued by the work of
his wife, Ilsa and his son Christian.
Dr. William Kaufman. Dr. Kaufman was among the very first
physicians to therapeutically employ mega doses of vitamin B3
(niacin, or niacin amide). He prescribed as much as 5,000 mg of
niacin amide daily, in many divided doses, to dramatically
improve and restore range of joint motion in arthritic patients.
Kaufman said, “I noted that niacin amide (alone or combined with
other vitamins) in a thousand patient-years of use has caused no
adverse side effects.”
